The ATM622-s is a single chip ATM solution designed to connect an ATM interface to the host via IEEE 1496-1993 bus standard (SBus). The chip is an implementation of the ATM SAR (Segmentation And Reassembly) plus the system/IO interface. The ATM622-s absorbs the latest changes of the ATM Forum (excluding ABR congestion control support) baseline document (ATM-Forum UNI 3.1 specification) and pays special attention to the current and future platform specifics, particularly the IO Streaming buffers and IOMMUs. The ATM622-s is the first generation network interface chip which provides zero copy TCP assist for the kernel including TCP checksum in hardware. The ATM622-s also incorporates packet segmentation for applications such as MPEG over AAL5.
