COBRAThe Constant Bit Rate ATM Adaptation Layer 1 (COBRA)
device is a CMOS VLSI device that provides the functions needed for circuit
emulation over ATM. Both Structured (e.g. nx64 Kbits/s) and Unstructured
services(e.g. 1544 Kbits/s and 2408 Kbit/s) are supported. Four independent
channels are supported in a single device. The COBRAsupports three clock
modes: internal clock recovery based on thesynchronous residual time stamp
(SRTS), clock recovery based on the FIFO fill level, and an external clock mode.
The COBRA device interfacesdirectly to a PCM line interface device and to an
UTOPIA compliantdevice.Features are
- AAL1 segmentation and reassembly
- Four independent channels
- Structured and Unstructured service
- Internal Clock recovery with SRTS and Adaptive mechanism
- External Clock mode
- Partially filled cell
- AAL1 bypass mode
- Selectable AMI/B8ZS/HDB3 line coding
- AIS/Test signal generation
- Coding violation monitor
- Loss of signal and output activity monitor
- Line loopback
- Serial port for control of line interface devices
- Motorola/Intel compatible microprocessor interface
- ATM Forum Compliant
